SUMMARY
“We are all the same” is a common discurse in all communities of our world today.In this tolerant world, technologic developments are icreasing day by day and givig chance our modern people accessing information at any time without any dependence to either time or place.This causes us an awareness of other societies and cultures on the one hand – and on the other hand it causes us to ignore some valuable heritages of own cultures such as game and toy culture that is very important on people's psychology.
Our project is based on making new friendships by the help of toy and game culture of old and new generations.In the process of the project, all partner school students' will search and compare the toys and games of their old generations and today's.Then the hosting school will present their results making exhibitions including researches (samples of old and new toys and games), performances and works by the students to their guests during the visits.Partner schools will integrate the theme into their curriculum.Students will make toys from different materials for our new friends and this will develop their friendship in their childish world.We will establish a website that we will be able to publish our project process and studies.So that we will be able to transmit the outcomes of our study to other people as much as possible.Our partnership aims to make our students aware of European culture with the discovery of game and toy culture of different cultures and generations.We want to create an open mindedness towards differences.We aim to demolish the prejudices, to break the barriers and constitute real friendships.
RATIONALE
In this modern world our fundamental aim is to grow up individuals who is able to live and to coexist in a society based on tolerance, solidarity and morals values that accepts different cultural contexts.But today our new generation are all exposed to and interested in computer games, television and other electronic games that creates so many problems on their health and psychology.So they grow up individuals as post-modern but alone.They have a tendency in violence, being alone, being depressive.They have any communication neither with their families nor other people.So we want to reduce this uncommunicative atmosphere with the help of our project, make the students be aware of their cultural heritages on the international dimension. The election of this subject “ Popular and traditional Games ”is sustained in which nowadays our students have lost the custom in dedicating part of their time to the popular games that our grandparents and parents used to do, in a single or group way.They have no more real toys so they do not know how to play naturally, by bonding with other children.Our students are able to pass all the levels of any videogame now; however, they do not have a repertoire of appropriate games to play in group and to occupy their free time in the school, the street or the district.
For all these reasons we want to do our project.Our goal is to give our students the opportunity to know and to give them the same level of popularity and fun that their family had in their childhood.Our project will allow better communication in the family, with parents and grandparents, because students will learn which toys they played, how they spent their spare time.Grandparents will remove the dust from the old chests and discover their childhood toys in order to show them to their grandchildren.Maybe they could build simple toys for their children and we will organize exhibitions involving both children and parents.By the help of our study they will communicate with their old generations and peers today.So that we will be able to both prevent the generation gap a little and make them to see that they are all the same.Then we will be have reached our main aim of our project that is to have an effective role in developing present-day children’s communication and sociability creating an opportunity to observe the change of the game and toy culture in time.By the help of our project we purpose to expose our students different cultures and languages and we want them to communicate in English with the other students that learn English also.That will be a perfect motivation for them to learn and use it.We want to open new prospects to our pupils and stuff.We are aiming to increase our students' and theachers' interests towards learning diffent European Languages.
We want to open new horizons to our students and teachers by the help of this intercultural project. We want them to make new friendships with the students and teachers from different countries and motivate them to learn English and other European languages.We purpose to make them learn and do empathy comparing the fun objects of different generations and themselves.We want them to realize their skills that already they have and gain new skills taking place within the activities actively. Teachers and pupils involved in the project will have the opportunity to exchange and contribute their experiences, strengthen their motivations. All the staff will have the chance to discover that the international cooperation is also an important instrument to improve their linguistic and communication competences.Finaly we are aware of the fact that taking part in such a project will open new horizons and give us a more open mind.It will help us to break the barriers and to grow up tolerant individuals, to teach them to respect the differences.It will help us to improve moraland humanistic values.We all know that we will be able to achieve these goals by the help of our project that will unit different cultures and make promote us our ICT skills.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGY
I. The objectives of our project that we want to accomplish are specified below ;
•To support the aim of The European Community that is to raise the standards of people in various dimensions of economic, social and cultural affairs through partnership.
•To expand international understanding and consciousness.
•To contribute intercultural heritage of 21 st century.
•To turn our school to an organisation that contributes education in both national and international dimensions and a multicultural education institution.
•To create an awareness about one of our hidden values 'toys and game culture'.
•To show the common features of people and cultures, and to display that people are not all different from each other.
•To have an important role in preventing individual's becoming isolated in our post modern community.
•To reduce the gap between the old and new generations providing dialog between them.
•To encourage students about the usage of information and communication technologies within the project.
• To disseminate outcomes of our study to many other people as much as we will be able to reach.
• In all participant schools, to increase motivation of pupils' learning English and other European Languages.
• To raise up students’ awareness on the fun objects and the way they play with raising up their consciousness about the effects of games and tools on our individual development.
•To develop students' sociabilitity, cultural knowledge and understanding way of life.
•To create a multi-purposeful interaction in terms of social culture, literature, communication, productivity and doing empathy.
We will categorize and deal with these topics and problems in our project duration.During our project, we will search on the toys and games of old and new generations and highlight the common features of the way that people's having fun.We will provide students doing empathy and being interaction with their elders in their family.We will be especially focused on the changes of toys and games and their changing effects on people.We will make students completely participated in doing researches, preparing ppts and actvities so that we will increase their interests and skills in using technology .At the end of our study we will publish a magazine putting together all of our searches and exhibitions.We will transmit our studies to other people founding a web page.
IMPACT
I.Impacts on students:
The partnership will reinforce students' understanding way of life and learning a new language.They will have a chance to see and experience different cultures with their peers learning English, as well.That will provide them a stronger motivation to learn English. This partnership will improve the relationships between school and parents, children and parents. It will provide a greater sense of responsibility to our students towards themselves and the other people.
They will have an oppurtunity to know different people from different European cultures and improve relationships with their peers from different countries. It will create an awareness about lifelong language learning among our students and will also add to the possibility of students' involvement in other European Community activities in the future.It will contribute to mutual sympathy and tolerance among the new generations which are the next citizens of European Community.
II.Impacts on teachers:
This project will enrich the social and professional improvements of teachers.It will give an chance to the teachers to experience different cultures and to learn, compare and apply new and different teaching approaches in their teaching style. It will enhance the team spirit among teachers.It will create new desires to participate in other related studies with European Community. It will create an awareness of being European and support the respect towards cultural diversity among the teachers.Above all, this partnership will be a very good motivation in terms of education and teaching foreign languages.
III. General impact on participating institutions:
This project will support all institutions in terms of developing their educational systems and turning into a more modern and contributing organisation to the intercultural value.It will inspire the use of social and technological skills in a more common area within their education policies. It will present all new opportunities such as travelling different countries, making new friendships, getting smpathy to different societies and cultures.Above all, this collaboration will create a good motivation to learn English and any other foreign languages and cultures of Europe. Because this partnership will destroy all the fears and projeduces towards learning a new language and other cultures.We think this is the most important step towards being a good learner of language and a European citizen.
